Coast- Round 2

We just got back from another trip to the coast! We started in the Depoe Bay area with Jason's family. This is an annual tradition that I think I've been part of for about 8 years now and it's something I look forward to every year! Here are a few pictures from that portion of the trip- I always kick myself for not keeping the camera more handy!

Great Grandpa Gus and Rylan

Rylan with Aunt Sue, Grandma Kay, Mama Jean and Grandpa Gus. We had a great view of the beach and Rylan got LOTS of attention...just the way he likes it!

Rylan in the ever-popular Jumperoo with Cousin MaKenna monitoring

Kisses!!

Family beach shot!

Grandma and Grandpa with their 2 loves!

Flying with Grandpa Perry

After the coast with Jason's side of the family, we headed to Corvallis for an OSU game and tailgate  party. Here's Rylan in his OSU jersey with Great Uncle Kenny!

See...he's not always happy

GO BEAVS...with Papa

Goldie (who throws one heck of a tailgate party, although we didn't have any Jello Shots like the neighbors) with her little buddy.

Tia Katy with Ry!

Hard to tell...but this is "O-S-U" by the Jacobs family. Rylan fell asleep with his arms up, so he's the U

Cousin Meaghan FINALLY got to meet Rylan!! We love her so much!!

After a heartbreaking OSU loss, we headed back to the beach with my family-- this time to Manzanita

Family shot on the beach!

Family time at Haystack Rock! Jason, Kelly, Rylan, Goldie, Papa, Great Uncle Kenny, Tia Katy, and Katy's fiance Kevin!!

Happy happy happy!!

Fall Adventures

We'll seems like time is flying by- Rylan is 4 1/2 months now and we've been so enjoying getting to know his personality! Overall he's a super happy kid that gets cranky when hungry or too tired...how can you blame him though, I think we're all like that! Sept and Oct have brought some fun adventures- I'm back to work and that is going just fine. Thanks to all the grandparents for having Rylan when Jason and I both work!

Rylan with Uncle Matt- finally got to meet him and I think that Rylan might still think he's Papa (Matt is my dad's twin brother)

Ry with Triple G (Great Grandma Geri). She likes to love on him and he sure doesn't mind!

Jumperoo-- rylan's favorite toy! Video of him in it at the end of the blog

Loves his bath time :)

We had a great time at Wallowa Lake with Jason's family in Sept! We all got to be there- this is Rylan with Auntie Alyssa

Family Shot

Cheering for Grandma Corinna!

Golfing- Grammy Helen would have been so proud...even if it was just mini golf!

Go Cart Racing with Daddy

Cousin MaKenna came to hang out after nap time - I think they're going to get along so well! It's always fun to see the Thomas family and let the two of them play. They are 9 months apart and only 3 lbs difference...yikes!

These puppies were staying with family in Baker - Rylan got lots of kisses and nibbles on his toes! Grandpa Wally in the background

Rylan met Cousin Saxon!

Sporting headgear in the Fields garage as Casey and I craft- It's a noisy project so he wears Lilly's earmuffs and it cracks me up!

Rylan and me in the Corn Maze!

Crazy hair...cute kid!

Rylan and his best bud Lilly. She wants his hair, obviously.

So big!

Happy happy kiddo- just take him outside and he'll start smiling!

Rylan in the Jumperoo as I promised...He thinks he's pretty cool

Early Risers

So...I typically try to avoid telling other new parents this, but Rylan is possibly the best sleeper ever. He normally sleeps for about 9 hours straight at night- which is pretty close to perfect for me! This morning he did decide to wake up at 4:52, but I have remind myself that since I slept all night, I'm still very spoiled! I'm taking the extra time to update the blog with our latest adventures. I've returned to work now (just 3 days a week) and that is going well. We're making an effort to get out and do fun things on the other days.

Rylan and his best bud Lilly. They are actually 6 months apart, but Rylan is getting dangerously close to her size already...He looks a little crazy here, but it's hard to get two babies in one photo!

Rylan and Zulu have finally starting showing a little interest in one another. Zulu kissed him the other day (sorry, it's gross, but it was cute) and last night Zulu was running around and Rylan was LAUGHING for the first time ever. It was an amazing sound!

We went to a Beaver Tailgate Party at the Johnsons! Rylan and his buddy Carson were all dressed in their Beavs gear. #70, Grant Johnson, is from Baker and we are excited to see him play this year!! Here we are with the grammas too!

Sitting up in the "bumbo"

First time swinging....he liked it....kind of.

Just relaxing. He looks like such a grown up kid here so I have to quit staging photos!

We love bathtime! Rylan has discovered himself in the mirror and I have fun with all that hair!

One day I decided to go for a run. I ran out to Grandpa and Geri's house. It seems super far, but is actually 3 miles. It still was the most I've run since I got pregnant. Needless to say, I did walk back.

We took Rylan for his first hike in a awesome backpack we were given...he fell asleep going both directions so we guess he liked it. Hiked to VanPatten lake. I hiked up with him, but was too scared of falling on the downhill, so Jason took him. It does kind of mess up your balance!

Jason and Rylan at the lake!

Ready to head home!

Our attempt at a family photo! We had a nice day hiking and plan on finding some other local hikes to enjoy before Rylan gets too heavy!
Thanks for visiting!

Oregon Coast Trip

A few weeks ago Jason, Rylan and I set out on an adventure around Oregon. I insisted to Jason that we take a trip while I was on maternity leave so we both didn't have to take time off. We got all packed (thanks to my parents for taking Rylan for an afternoon so I could get the house clean and packed). We didn't even make it to North Powder (like 15 minutes out of town) before Rylan started crying. We had this moment where we looked at each other like "we could just cancel reservations and go home where we know what we're doing!" Fortunately, that was the only moment like that and we had an amazing trip! We had lots of friends and family that we fit in, and still more we wish we could have! Here's some of my favorites:

Rylan with Great Uncle Kenny - our first stop! We also had breakfast with him the next day and saw him later in Bend! Kenny always makes us laugh and is great with Rylan!

Rylan and Sarah K! Sarah and I were travel buddies back when I went to South Africa (5 years ago already!) She is now also a nurse and a wonderful friend! We only got a short visit with her because I got us lost in Portland, but it was so good to see her again!

We then made it to our first night's accomodations- Hotel Hensley! Matt and Emily graciously allowed us to bombard their home with baby and all that goes with him. We spent quite a bit of the night trying to keep him quiet- but overall our first night away went very smoothly! Here he is with daddy just too tired to function.

Matt and Emily (Matt has been a friend since 6th grade) having an akward family photo moment with Rylan. They made us a GREAT dinner that night and spoiled us rotten!

After a quick stop in Salem, we were on our way to Rylan's first trip to the beach!

Rylan and me at Lincoln City! As you can see, we lucked out with the weather!

Family!

Traveling totally wears us out! We had a great condo with beatiful views of the coastline. We got to stay 3 nights!

Not the best picture- but it was nice for us to spend some time away from Baker and get to have Rylan all to ourselves!

Hallelujah! Rylan has decided he likes to be left alone sometimes and just play on a blanket! He kicks around like crazy and smiles. Here he is with the ocean in the background!

So the hair has grown back out now...#1 comment we get about him is about his hair! Here he is just playing with dad with his lion PJ's on.

Mom and Rylan in the frontpack- which never fails to put him to sleep!

Jason got to scuba dive (BURRRRR!)

Jason and his cousin Travis heading off to dive in Newport - cool picture with the bridge! We stayed in the car- it's windy at this dive spot!

Hanging out waiting for dad - please ignore the spit bubbles :)

The condo had a pool- it was too cold for Rylan really so we didn't last too long. Aren't they cute though?!

A smile!!

Just one real family picture - this is outside of our favorite restaurant and the beach where Jason proposed 4 years ago!

After the beach we headed to Albany. Jason went to fire and medic school with Jonesy and also worked with him in Corvallis. They were roommates for a while too-- we couldn't make the trip without stopping! Rylan had to wear his beaver gear all day because Jonesy is a duck fan. We'll forgive him since he's a pretty great guy! Thank you Jones for hosting and BBQing! We had a great time!

Jason's other fire buddy Lee came all the way from Roseburg to see us!!

Then we went to Bend-- there we met up with my parents, Uncle Kenny, and Katy. We also met Katy's boyfriend Kevin. We floated the river and had an awesome dinner out!

Tia (aunt) Katy with her buddy Rylan! Thanks for letting us crash at your house!

Then we went to the big city of LaPine, OR. Jason's youngest sister lives there now and one of his best friends, Kyle. Kyle hosted a great BBQ and got to spend a little time with Rylan.

That night we stayed with Auntie Alyssa-- thanks for your hospitality!  We played Pinnocle with Lyssa and Dillon - lots of fun for us!

Proof that Dillon held a baby - apparently not his favorite thing to do!

Exhausted from 7 nights away with staying at 5 different places. Rylan did amazingly well and I'm so glad we were fortunate enough to spend this time together and see so many wonderful people.
