A few weeks ago Jason, Rylan and I set out on an adventure around Oregon. I insisted to Jason that we take a trip while I was on maternity leave so we both didn't have to take time off. We got all packed (thanks to my parents for taking Rylan for an afternoon so I could get the house clean and packed). We didn't even make it to North Powder (like 15 minutes out of town) before Rylan started crying. We had this moment where we looked at each other like "we could just cancel reservations and go home where we know what we're doing!" Fortunately, that was the only moment like that and we had an amazing trip! We had lots of friends and family that we fit in, and still more we wish we could have! Here's some of my favorites:
Rylan with Great Uncle Kenny - our first stop! We also had breakfast with him the next day and saw him later in Bend! Kenny always makes us laugh and is great with Rylan!
Rylan and Sarah K! Sarah and I were travel buddies back when I went to South Africa (5 years ago already!) She is now also a nurse and a wonderful friend! We only got a short visit with her because I got us lost in Portland, but it was so good to see her again!
We then made it to our first night's accomodations- Hotel Hensley! Matt and Emily graciously allowed us to bombard their home with baby and all that goes with him. We spent quite a bit of the night trying to keep him quiet- but overall our first night away went very smoothly! Here he is with daddy just too tired to function.
Matt and Emily (Matt has been a friend since 6th grade) having an akward family photo moment with Rylan. They made us a GREAT dinner that night and spoiled us rotten!
After a quick stop in Salem, we were on our way to Rylan's first trip to the beach!
Rylan and me at Lincoln City! As you can see, we lucked out with the weather!
Family!
Traveling totally wears us out! We had a great condo with beatiful views of the coastline. We got to stay 3 nights!
Not the best picture- but it was nice for us to spend some time away from Baker and get to have Rylan all to ourselves!
Hallelujah! Rylan has decided he likes to be left alone sometimes and just play on a blanket! He kicks around like crazy and smiles. Here he is with the ocean in the background!
So the hair has grown back out now...#1 comment we get about him is about his hair! Here he is just playing with dad with his lion PJ's on.
Mom and Rylan in the frontpack- which never fails to put him to sleep!
Jason got to scuba dive (BURRRRR!)
Jason and his cousin Travis heading off to dive in Newport - cool picture with the bridge! We stayed in the car- it's windy at this dive spot!
Hanging out waiting for dad - please ignore the spit bubbles :)
The condo had a pool- it was too cold for Rylan really so we didn't last too long. Aren't they cute though?!
A smile!!
Just one real family picture - this is outside of our favorite restaurant and the beach where Jason proposed 4 years ago!
After the beach we headed to Albany. Jason went to fire and medic school with Jonesy and also worked with him in Corvallis. They were roommates for a while too-- we couldn't make the trip without stopping! Rylan had to wear his beaver gear all day because Jonesy is a duck fan. We'll forgive him since he's a pretty great guy! Thank you Jones for hosting and BBQing! We had a great time!
Jason's other fire buddy Lee came all the way from Roseburg to see us!!
Then we went to Bend-- there we met up with my parents, Uncle Kenny, and Katy. We also met Katy's boyfriend Kevin. We floated the river and had an awesome dinner out!
Tia (aunt) Katy with her buddy Rylan! Thanks for letting us crash at your house!
Then we went to the big city of LaPine, OR. Jason's youngest sister lives there now and one of his best friends, Kyle. Kyle hosted a great BBQ and got to spend a little time with Rylan.
That night we stayed with Auntie Alyssa-- thanks for your hospitality! We played Pinnocle with Lyssa and Dillon - lots of fun for us!
Proof that Dillon held a baby - apparently not his favorite thing to do!
Exhausted from 7 nights away with staying at 5 different places. Rylan did amazingly well and I'm so glad we were fortunate enough to spend this time together and see so many wonderful people.
